Review: Shark II SUP Electric Air Pump
Is this the best SUP pump on the market?
Like many of you out there, we spent the beginning of our SUP adventure pumping up our boards by hand. That soon changed when we bought our first electric sup (12v car) pump off Amazon for £59. The Sevylor pump we bought wasn’t the most expensive and it didn’t last long.
Unsurprisingly, we quickly upgraded to a nondescript SUP pump, again off Amazon for £79.99 which was a million times better. However make sure you have some spare car fuses on you, the first time we used it, it blew the cigarette lighter fuse. Ooooopsy.
However social media posts and online reviews on the Shark pump by Outdoor Masters really caught our attention. We kept seeing people on the riverside using them, but it cost a fair bit more. Leaving us hesitant and wondering if it was really worth it.
Coming in at around £139.99 (price may vary with promotional offers) The Shark II SUP Electric Air Pump, is definitely one of the most expensive pumps on the market, but after much deliberation we reckon it’s totally worth it.
The Shark II has a clear digital readout making it easy to use, and comes with a nice array of different attachments for other applications, such as inflatable kayaks and mattresses. The pump comes with a pack of different sized o rings to ensure you can use the pump on pretty much any SUP brand, these are easily changed.
The pump boasts a carry handle and funky eye-catching styling and gets you up to 20 PSI no problem. It’s also pretty light, so easy to carry and transport. The inflation hose has a nice positive feel with no worries of air leakage. Performs like a dream compared to our first pump where we were using gaffer tape to hold the hose in place after a week of use. Featuring a built in cooling system means you’ll be able to pump up at least 3 boards in a row without overheating.
Like most electric pumps, using the Shark II probably won’t be as fast as pumping up your board by hand, but you will save your energy for paddling. Many of us turn to an electric pump as we may have multiple boards to inflate, or struggle with that last 4 PSI. Whatever your reason for getting an electric pump, this great SUP pump will make you the envy of the car park with its perfect performance and ease of use. It’s definitely the best pump we’ve come across so far.
Shark II SUP Electric Air Pump VS nondescript SUP pump off Amazon. In the image above, you can see the size difference of the digital readout screen. Nice a clear on the Shark II
Last but not least, many of us don’t realise that electric pumps also work brilliantly for deflation. Once you return the water, set the pump to deflate and connect your SUP once more, turn it on and the air will be vacuumed out. Making it easier to repack.

Thanks Outdoor Masters for sending us the Shark II SUP Electric Air Pump, chuffed is an understatement. This is a product we’d definitely recommend (and already have been) to our own club members and customers.
